The working definition of Christian witness is much more simple than it sounds: We witness whenever we share what we have seen, felt, heard, touched, or encountered. 1John, chapter 1 says, “what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life...” The Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus is constantly working within and among us to help break through to us the truth of God’s abiding presence. All we need to do during our Connect gatherings is to tell simple stories to one another about how that is occurring in our lives. That’s what the Way is essentially for: to motivate us to keep moving along in the Christian journey of discipleship and to take notice of how Christ (whose image forms the center of the “cog” logo of the Way) is at the center of our human existence. This experience is like a sapling that must be shared with others if it is to extend deep roots and form a sturdy shoot that is strong enough to reach maturity and eventually bear fruit.
