Finding Home [Carolin Coyner]

by Prince of Peace

French-born Caroline Coyner felt the presence of Jesus and the Blessed Mother long before her faith journey brought her to the Catholic church and Prince of Peace in Flowery Branch.“I kept hearing them in my heart,” said Caroline, daughter of Catholic and a Protestant parents.

Caroline was welcomed into the faith and the Prince of Peace family at Easter this year. The same day she recommitted to her 15-year marriage at a Catholic ceremony, known as a convalidation, in the church.

On her day off, she’d come into work and met an American tourist who would later become her husband. The two had a long-distance relationship for four years before marrying.

Caroline had contemplated becoming a Catholic years earlier when she visited Notre Dame, the most famous of the world’s Catholic churches. But she didn’t feel welcome there. Through life journeys that included panic attacks and meditation, her search for a church home continued.

That search ended abruptly when she came to Prince of Peace and felt the welcoming spirit of the parishioners and the presence of the Lord. Prince of Peace member Katie Bevins met Caroline at Alpha and would go on to become her friend and Godmother. At Alpha, she said, Caroline “was a sponge, wanting to learn more and more about Jesus and His faith.”
